Release 1.0.0 - We're out of beta! 🎉
Released: Jan 3, 2023
We're kicking off the new year with a bang — Sumatra is officially out of beta! v1.0 marks Sumatra's enterprise-readiness with powerful user management features, including role-based access control (RBAC) and SAML SSO configuration, all accessible through the UI.
Featured in this release
- Manage users in the UI
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- SAML SSO administration
Manage users in the UI
Gone are the days of asking your IT team to add Sumatra users to AWS! 👋
Manage users directly from Sumatra:
- Add users
- Deactivate / delete accounts
- Assign roles
User management is accessible to Sumatra users with Admin status. Anyone can be granted Admin status by an existing administrator, independent of their role.
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Administrators can now assign one of three roles to each user to restrict access to sensitive areas of the platform while giving everyone the access they need.
|Role||Who it's for|
|Reader||Non-developer analyst or stakeholder|
|Writer||Developers + Data Scientists (most users)|
|Publisher||Manager / Ops Eng. who can deploy to LIVE|
For the full details on these access levels, see the Roles documentation.
Since we don't charge extra per seat, try using the Reader role to give access to stakeholders who need visibility into Sumatra.
SAML SSO administration
To make it even easier to deploy a Private Cloud instance of Sumatra, we've integrated the SAML SSO setup directly into the UI.
Quickly and easily set up SSO to centrally manage your users' accounts. In addition, you can optionally manage user roles and admin status through your SSO provider.
For more details, see SSO Setup.
- Simplified login via SSO for faster login
- Simplified password reset for easier account recovery
- Removed the Lists feature. Lists were replaced by the more powerful Tables. Yay for an easier-to-use application with better functionality!
